Kansas Promise Scholarship​​

  • A Kansas resident who has graduated from an accredited Kansas public or a private secondary school (or Kansas homeschool) within the preceding 12 months.

  • A Kansas resident who has been in Kansas for three or more consecutive years and who is at least 21 years of age or older.

  • A dependent child of a military service member permanently stationed in another state who graduated in the last 12 months.

Income Limit:

  • All eligible students must have a family household income of:

    • Equal to or less than $100,000 for a family of two

    • Equal to or less than $150,000 for a family of three

    • Equal to or less than $150,000 plus $4,800 for each additional family member for household sizes greater than three.

  • If there is scholarship money left in the Kansas Promise Scholarship program fund during the award year after awarding scholarships to the students who qualify based on the above income levels, Kansas Promise Scholarships may be awarded to eligible students whose family household income exceeds the set limits.

Dickinson County Republican Women Scholarship

  • A scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to any Dickinson County high school senior planning to attend a Kansas college or vocational school. Also, any Dickinson County resident currently attending a Kansas College or vocational school may apply. If 18 years of age or older, the applicant must be a registered Republican

  • The scholarship contest is designed to recognize students who place importance on managing their money well, right from the start.
  • Any public, private or home-schooled Kansas high school senior who will attend a school of higher learning in Kansas is eligible.

Dickinson County Democratic Party Scholarship

  • The Dickinson County Democratic Party, (DCDP) will award one $250 scholarship for one senior applicant from each of the 5 Dickinson County High Schools. Each school may have multiple senior applicants. Abilene . Chapman . Herington . Hope . Solomon
  • Senior Scholarship applicants must be planning to attend a secondary school to receive the scholarship. Schools that qualify include Trade and Technical Schools, Community Colleges, Colleges and Universities.

Dickinson County Conservation Scholarship
•a senior enrolled in a Dickinson County high school or a graduate from a Dickinson County high school
•a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or greater (on a 4.0 point scale)
<enrolled as a full time student in an agricultural or natural resource conservation-related curriculum such as agronomy, range management, forestry, geography, agricultural journalism, agriculture education, or wildlife management. Other areas of study related to conservation also qualify.

Donald Stewart Scholarship
•These annually awarded scholarships are available to graduates of any Dickinson County High School.

• Four (4) nonrenewable scholarships, each in the amount of at least $3,000, will be awarded annually, to apply toward tuition and fees to attend Kansas University, for undergraduate studies.

• Potential recipients are not limited to currently graduating Dickinson County High School seniors. Applicants can also include former Dickinson County High School graduates who are now attending, or wish to attend, Kansas University, to pursue an undergraduate degree.

• Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously been awarded this scholarship; if there is a shortage of those applicants, previously awarded recipients, who elect to reapply, may be considered.

Emmanuel Church – Wilma & Lester Green Memorial Scholarship

• Applicants must reside in Dickinson County, Kansas, with a preference for youth active in a Dickinson County church and/or newspaper carrier from The Abilene Reflector Chronicle.

• Applicants must attend one of the following schools: • Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina, Kansas • McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas • Southwestern College, Winfield, Kansas • Baker University, Baldwin City, Kansas • Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas • Sterling College, Sterling, Kansas

• Any vocational or community college with a location in Kansas

• Scholarship recipients must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and be a full-time student as determined by the institution of higher education.

• Scholarship recipients can apply in successive years for the scholarship, if they meet all other criteria.

• Applicants must show a financial need for the scholarship.

>• The awards for the 2020-2021 school year will be up to $5,000.00 which will be sent to the college attended.

• Applicant must be a current graduating senior of any high school in Dickinson County, Kansas and plan to attend a post-secondary institution in the State of Kansas.
• Applicant must have earned a minimum of a 3.0 accumulated GPA, validated by the school.
• Applicant must have earned a varsity letter in any competitive sport.
• The following information must be included for your application to be considered:
    (a) The completed cover sheet.
    (b) An essay about the area of study you plan to pursue, your college and career goals and why you feel you are in financial need of this scholarship in order to attain a college education.
    (c) A copy of a seven semester high school transcript. Keith served his country in the United States Marines Corps during the Vietnam War and then as the Dickinson County Attorney for fifteen years. He spent an additional fourteen years in private law practice. When not working, Keith was an avid fisherman and loved sports. He was named to the Chapman Sports Hall of Fame and coached the Solomon High School Gorillas’ Girls’ Basketball Team. This scholarship is to give tribute to the principles Keith promoted by working hard towards achievement in the classroom, on the field, and for one’s country.
    (d) Attach a resume that includes (but does not need to be limited to) a list of individual honors, school, community and church activities, work and/or community service.
    (e) Three recommendations (using the attached form) need to be mailed directly to Jon Gose from the person you ask to write it. These recommendations must be from adults who are not relatives. One must be from a high school teacher whose class(es) you took. You are to supply these three adults with a stamped envelope addressed to Jon Gose (see address below).
• If the applicant decides to drop out of school at any time during the first semester of college, s/he must repay the Keith Hoffman Memorial Scholarship for the full amount s/he received.

• Be enrolled as an undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, or graduate student in a post-secondary educational institution within the State of Kansas

• Be enrolled in coursework that is necessary to begin a career in a Geography-based profession

• Be able to show the intent to make Geography or a Geography-related career the major focus of your higher education.
The following qualifications are desirable, but not mandatory:

• Grade point average of 3.25 or higher

• Past employment or internship in a field related to Geography

  • Applicant must be a female graduating senior or alumni of a Dickinson County high school
  • Applicant must plan to attend or currently attend a postsecondary institute or vocational program in Kansas
  • Applicant must have earned a minimum of a 2.0 accumulated GPA
  • The following information shall be included in the application:

o The completed application cover sheet

o Resume – school and community

o An essay (250-500 words) detailing what you have done through volunteer work to give back to your community during your high school/college years.

o A copy of a high school/college transcript

o A recommendation letter from someone who can verify your community involvement.

April 28, 2023
  • Awarded to anyone seeking education in a trade program at a Vocational Technical College or Community College in the Fall of 2023.
  • Students must live within the KJIL/KHYM listening area.
  • This application and all supporting documents must be received by April 28th at 5pm to be considered.
  • All qualifying applications will be reviewed by the Build Technical Scholarship committee. The winner will be announced by mid-May.

 Two (2) “Regular” Scholarships 

1. Applicant’s parent(s) or guardian(s) must be employed in the oil or gas industry; 

2. Applicant qualifies if a parent was employed in the oil or gas industry but is now deceased; 

3. Applicant must be a graduating senior of the class of 2023; 

4. Applicant’s GPA must be in the upper fifty-percent (50%) of his or her class; 

5. Applications must be returned no later than April 30, 2023. 

 Two (2) “Industry” Scholarships “Oil & Gas Related Course of Study” 

1. Applicant if awarded, must remain enrolled in an oil or gas-related major, such as engineering or geology, for up to a four (4) year term, or upon completion of the field-related degree or certification program. 

2. Applicant must be a graduating senior of the class of 2023; 

3. Applicant’s GPA must be in the upper fifty-percent (50%) of his or her class; 

4. Applications must be returned no later than April 30, 2023.
