Technology Essentials (9th - 12th Grade)

Technology Essentials aims to prepare high school students with basic knowledge in formatting, working with data, manipulating images, graphic design, and audio/video multimedia presentations. Software used in this course includes Microsoft Office, Google Apps for Education, iWorks, and the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop). An emphasis is placed on the development of written, electronic and spoken communication, time management, and independent problem solving over the course of the year.

Interactive Media (10th - 12th Grade)
(Prerequisite: Technology Essentials)

Interactive Media courses provide students with the knowledge and skills to create, design, and produce interactive media products. Students will utilize Adobe Photoshop to create logos, posters, signs, and digital image creations. In addition, students will learn vector image develop in Adobe Illustrator, animation in Adobe Flash, and digital video editing skills in both iMovie and Final Cut Express.

Web Design (10th - 12th Grade)
(Prerequisite: Technology Essentials)

Web Page Design teaches students the basic elements of web site design using HTML and Adobe Dreamweaver. Throughout the year, this class manages and updates the both the Chapman High School website and the USD 473 district website. Websites created include, personal, sports, favorite televison show, and fake business.

Computer Programming (10th - 12th Grade)
(Prerequisite: Technology Essentials)

An overview of computer programming topics with an emphasis on problem-solving. Students will work through www.codehs.com curriculum, learning basic Java programming.

Irish Ink Production (11th - 12th Grade)

(Prerequisite: Interactive Media)

The production course is for first year Irish Ink students. This class focuses on the basic structure of the Irish Ink Design and Printing business. Students will learn how to design and create publications, interact with customers, and understand the billing process.

 

Irish Ink Design (12th Grade)

(Prerequisite: Interactive Media)

The design course is for second year Irish Ink students. During this class students will focus on developing and printing publications for sale. Typically second year students will maintain a larger project load. Students in this course are allowed to take the class both 1st and 2nd hour.
