Introduction to Technology (1st Semester)
(9th-12th Grade)

A yearlong course that introduces the student to the materials, tools, and processes of the cabinetmaking, construction technology and drafting industries. The course includes AutoCAD design, safety and operational practices for both hand tools and power machines used in the woodwork industry.

 

Woodworking I (2nd Semester) (9th Grade)

A yearlong course that introduces the student to the materials, tools, and processes of the cabinetmaking, construction technology and drafting industries. The course includes AutoCAD design, safety and operational practices for both hand tools and power machines used in the woodwork industry

 

 

Cabinetmaking & Furniture Design I
(10th-12th Grade)

This is a basic floor framing, wall building, sheetrock, and trim work.

 

Construction Tech I (10th - 12th Grade)

Prerequisite: Intro to Technology or a senior with teacher approval who have had at least one unit of woodworking. Students should have an interest in pursuing Construction Technology or one of its related areas as a vocation. Students will be involved in the construction of a house on school property. The course will provide students with roof sheathing; shingling; siding; door and window installation; drywall finishing; drywall texturing; paint spraying; interior door installation; cabinet installation; installation of door and window casing and miscellaneous trim; ceiling texturing. Student will learn blueprint reading and will build the actual walls from door and window schedules. Students are expected to make up missed time before/after school. This is a yearlong project, and students are expected to remain enrolled in the class for the full year.

 

Cabinetmaking & Furniture Design II (11th - 12th Grade)

A yearlong course, which continues to develop the student's skill and knowledge of the cabinetmaking industry. Students will construct and install cabinets in a residential dwelling.

 

Construction Tech II (11th - 12th Grade)

Pre Requisite: Introduction to Industrial Technology, Construction Technology I or with teacher approval, a student who has had at least one unit of cabinetmaking. Students will be involved in the construction of a house on school property. The course will provide students with experiences in the following areas: floor framing, wall framing; roof trusses; wall and roof sheathing; shingling; siding; door and windows installation; drywall installation; drywall finishing; interior door installation; cabinet construction; installation of door and window casing and miscellaneous trim; ceiling texturing; counter top and plastic laminate construction; plumbing fixture installation. Students will learn blueprint reading and will build the actual walls from door and window schedules. The class is designed for a two-hour block. Safety for the major woodworking and portable tools are studied and tested prior to starting the construction of the house.

 

Research & Building Design (12th Grade)

Pre Requisite: Construction Technology II or to senior with teacher approval who have had at least one unit of woodworking and one unit of drafting. Students should have an interest in pursuing Construction Technology or one of its related areas as a vocation. Students will be involved in the construction of a house on school property. The course will provide students with roof sheathing; shingling; siding; door and window installation; drywall finishing; drywall texturing;paint spraying; interior door installation; interior beam installation; cabinet construction; installation of door and window casing and miscellaneous trim; ceiling texturing; counter top and plastic laminate construction. Student will learn blueprint reading and will build the actual walls from door and window schedules. This class is designed for a two-hour block. Students are expected to make up missed time before/after school. This is a yearlong project, and students are expected to remain enrolled in the class for the full year.
