Band

 

During the first semester, the band serves as the Irish Marching Band appearing at all home Varsity football games. In addition, they attend several parades such as the Labor Day Parade in Chapman, Country Clatter in Enterprise, St. Patrick’s Day in the second semester in Chapman. They attend Central States Marching Festival at KSU. The band also plays at home Girls and Boys varsity basketball games. The concert band appears at the Christmas Concert, District Band Night, FFA BBQ Concert and Commencement. The CHS Concert Band performs annually at State Large Group Contest. Other opportunities that individual students can participate in may include: District and State Band Tryouts, Solo and Ensemble Contest, KSU Concert Band Clinic, NCKL League Band, State and International Lion’s Band.

Jazz Band


The Chapman High School Jazz Band is directed by Steven Rathert. Freshman through Seniors are welcome to join. The course gives students the experience of learning different characteristics that jazz music is made of as well as learning about different composers and how jazz evolved. The students attend different festivals and competitions throughout the year as well as performing for the high school concerts and Popcorn and Jazz night in the Spring.
